Northern Ireland 1986-87

Here is a colection of photographs I took whilst serving in Belfast, N.Ireland between 1986 and 87

The exit and entry to the satellite camps was considered a dangerous part of the patrol. The camp guards, operations staff and patrols had to synchronize with each other so as not to leave the troops to long in the killing zone. These satellite camps usually housed a company of soldiers; complete with vehicles, administration staff and equipment. The camps were constantly needing to be updated and modified to keep ahead of the threat, hence the corrugated sheets you see that are for mortar and sniper protection.
