Northern Ireland 1986-87

Here is a colection of photographs I took whilst serving in Belfast, N.Ireland between 1986 and 87

The soldiers stick white pads on their rifles (SLR) so they could jot down any relevant information given to them at the intelligence brief before they go out on patrol. These could be car registration numbers, suspected terrorists or call signs. Also note that the cocking handle of the SLR was always flipped out should the weapon need loading in a hurry. Believe me the nanosecond makes a difference.
